Qualification

These courses are meant for dairy-farmers, entrepreneurs, managers or policy makers who would like to strengthen their  knowledge and practical experience in one of the six areas mentioned.

Applicants should be able to communicate in English and / or Kiswahili

Course costs

The course costs Ksh. 25,000 per person to take care of accommodation and meals, facilitators, training materials and certification.

Hygienic Milk Handling and Processing

This course is designed to enable the trainees to produce clean milk that is safe for human consumption, has the  longest shelf life and highest profits by reducing avoidable losses and rejects along the Dairy value chain.

Milk Testing and Quality Control

Meant for milk graders, Cooler attendants/technicians/managers, milk bar operators, extension and quality control staff this course aims at ensuring that milk delivered by farmers is tested and recorded to ensure high quality standards of  milk is received for processing and consumption.

The course covers topics in milk composition and properties, factors affecting milk quality, milk sampling, testing, recording and quality management.

Milk and Milk Products Marketing

This course is specifically prepared for the farmer's groups, milk traders/bar operators, dairy extension staff and cooperatives to build their capacity on marketing concepts along the dairy value chain.

The course objective is to enhance knowledge of the players in the dairy value chain on marketing, change their mindset towards market-oriented production and increase volume of their produce.

Feed Formulation and Milling Technology

This course targets dairy farmers, extension officers, feed millers, farm managers and sales personnel in the feed industry.

The course covers topics in digestive systems of ruminant and non ruminant animals, nutrition requirements of dairy cattle at all phases of growth and how it can be availed and feed formulation in terms of available ingredients, methods of formulation, mixing and presentation

Dairy Cow Management

This course targets dairy farmers, farm managers and extension officers with an aim of increasing productivity of the dairy farm.

It covers the topics in businesses in the dairy value chain, the common dairy cow breeds reared in Kenya and the production systems involved, breeding, calf rearing, clean milk production at farm level and nutrients  requirements for calves, heifers and lactating animals.

Entrepreneurship and Agribusiness

This course is designed to develop entrepreneurial capabilities in Agribusiness for all actors along the dairy value chain in order to increase productivity of farm production, improve Agribusiness linkages and produce market based and  demand driven products leading to diversification and increase in dairy related enterprise.
